DESCRIPTION:The latest addition to The Walker Foundation’s palette of services is the Hair Talk Academy. As a co-founder of The Walker Foundation\, her presence\, and knowledge in the beauty industry comes close to a decade. Over the years\, she has been close to the children and saw for herself how important hair is as part of one’s personality. This is especially accentuated in the urban areas and communities\, which was the inspiration for starting the Hair Talk Academy. The idea of incorporating the education hair classes in the urban school communities brings the importance of the issue to another entirely new and more appreciated level. \nThe majority of children do not know and understand hair. This includes everything from hair history\, hair textures\, hair care\, and the entire and overall hair education. This is something that Aisha\, as a young black child growing up in the urban community has experienced firsthand. This is especially challenging for African/American (black) children who have different types of hair and do not know their history\, the importance\, and strength of their hair. All of this connects to more pressing social issues like children being bullied and discriminated against on the bases of their hairstyles\, texture\, and type.\nTo cater to all of these issues\, Aisha and her team at Hair Talk Academy will start visiting urban schools and providing hair education. The idea is to create the so-called hair therapy. This will give the children the opportunity to talk about hair. They will learn\, grow and build hair confidence through hair education\, no matter the length of their hair\, texture\, or style.\nWith great excitement\, dedication and devotion\, we are proud and excited to bring back the hair into the school education system. \nFor all those willing to take part and join the Hair Talk Academy in this huge and evolutionary step\, be sure to fill out the form below.
