Welcome to The Walker Foundation

We are delighted to have you here, to help and encourage others to spread our mission of bringing back the smile on many faces dealing with various issues of hair conditions.

Founded in 2020,The Walker Foundation is the first to create hair programs for children with lack of resources. The story of The Walker Foundation is one led by real-life events and experiences. Witnessing the life of her mother suffering from alopecia, Aisha Walker was more than aware of how losing hair can have a devastating effect on a person. With that in mind, Tyrelle and Aisha came to the idea to help others that might be in the same or similar situation. Creating customized wigs for women and children suffering from different medical conditions was more than enough inspiration to start The Walker Foundation. Losing hair can have crushing effects on one’s self-esteem, self-confidence, and overall well-being.

Even more, if that is caused by some illness like Alopecia, Lupus, or Cancer. The desire to help all those in such need was so strong that Aisha and Tyrelle began the helping process by selling hair wigs and hair extensions to the wide public. To make the difference that this particular group of people needed, they donated a portion of their proceeds to their organization that catered to those who experienced medical hair loss and cannot afford any hair pieces – women, children, and seniors.

Throughout the years, the organization only grew bigger and bigger, dealing with lots of new cases as well as different needs. The basis of providing free hair services remained to be the vision and the mission of the organization. Special accent comes on the children in foster and adoption care, as well as children with disabilities and medical hair loss, children with traumatic brain injury, and those going back into society for homelessness. Bringing back the smile on the faces of all those children is a priceless thing. All of that accompanied by free hair services is done through the Walker Kids Hair Fair. The willingness to help from volunteering cosmologist, barbers, and braiders the children of the surrounding areas is the driving force in making this change.

Understanding the needs first-hand means tackling the issue to the core. There are many children in foster care today from different ethnic groups that are not receiving the proper care and knowledge. All of us at The Walker Foundation are working into providing a better, happier, and more hopeful tomorrow for all those who deal with different hair conditions. With huge help and eternal gratefulness to our constant and new volunteers, sponsors and donors we are continuing to grow, develop and provide more and more services to an even greater number of children, women, and seniors.
